Handicap is in our attitudes

It really pains as one lives in such a time...a Silver medalist in Olympic Sindhu gets 13 crores...while Mariyappan Gold medalist gets 2crores, even the Silver medalist from Haryana gets 4 crores...
In the below article, replace Singapore with India or any country which shows difference in rewards to sons/daughters of the country who bring a medal representing the country irrespective of levels/competition.
Wonder what would have been rewarded for Mariyappan had he been born in AP/Delhi or Haryana?

And if we keep saying that oh, paralympians are extraordinary athletes who have to overcome great odds, and they make Singapore proud all the same as our Olympians, disabled people can still lead meaningful, productive, and normal lives, how we want to promote a more inclusive and caring society and other nice things that politicians like to say, yada yada. Then what would it make us if we give less prize money to the paralympians? Hypocrites.

Deepa, was confined to a wheelchair in 1999 owing to a spinal tumour which paralysed her from waist down. Under the new sports policy of Haryana, the state government would give her Rs 4 crore for winning silver medal in Paralympics.
