Visit to Anna Centenary Library

The seven story Anna Centenary library in Kotturpuram was my refuge during the Chennai floods as schools were closed for many days in Nov/Dec 2015. I was highly impressed with what was available in terms of infrastructure seeing the library. In comparison to the usual govt. libraries I was happy to see how well lit and neatly arranged books with comfortable chairs to read. And again in comparison to other govt libraries, the toilets here neat and clean. Though there were many books to read with variety of topics covered which actually made me to frequent the library many times during the holidays. Though there were many things to inspire to go and read, the children section on first floor was highly disappointing. It was as if it had ONLY OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS books. It made me really angry and sad that how we have allowed ENGLISH to continue to DEINDIANISE our own children when children are so young.
I find daily proof of the increasing & continuing wrong being done to the millions by our false de-Indianizing education. We seem to have come to think that no one can hope to be like a Bose unless he knows English. I cannot conceive a grosser superstition than this. No Japanese feels so helpless as we seem to do....
http://www.gandhi-manibhavan.org/gandhiphilosophy/philosophy_education_aspergandhi.htm And how clever these English people are to start selling their books to the young minds? Am sure this is done with a very big backing and our people have bought all those OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS, when we have so many Indian languages to make our children love India. Even institutions like Sri Ramakrishna Mission is bringing out many great books which would help our children. Such books are both great in content and also less expensive compared to these OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS. And I will not be surprised even if they have DONATED those ENGLISH BOOKS FREELY to make our young generation to THINK LIKE ENGLISH instead as INDIANS. Besides that OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS TAKE OVER OF CHILDREN SECTION, the canteen said FRENCH LOAF....I checked what they have to offer, it was vegetable sandwich for Rs65 when I asked if there are anything to eat for lesser price, lady said Chicken Sandwitch at Rs55. I asked if this is how we vegetarians are made to become Non Vegetarians? I come out to the main road to eat something I notice a group of young men/women sitting around a table...one young woman in very small shorts, smoking a cigarette...I thought well, what the OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS children books and the FRENCH LOAFs in ANNA Centenary Library would produce in the next 15-20years? Can we bring some books from the institutions like Sri Ramakrishna Mission or Chinmaya Mission etc. and fill the Children sections?
