Gangai Konda Cholapuram
Recently visited this temple, as it has been in the list of mine for a long time.
So wonderfull to see the temple. Having been inspired by his father's Brahadeeswara temple in Tanjore, Rajendra Cholan built this temple in 11th century.
I asked the priest to tell something unique of the temple. He said, sun rays comes in the morning and falls directly on Siva Lingam which is very big like Tanjore Siva Lingam. He also mentioned, that hotter it gets outside, the cooler it gets inside the sactum sanctorum.
The Chandeshwara vigraha is the biggest one I have seen till now. And the Nandhi too is really big like Tanjore big temple...As I come out of the temple only question in mind was do we now have the knowledge and skills to build such a temple? If not what can we be proud of? and what is to say of so called education?
